POSLink Overview

POSLink is the method used to deliver Interfaced solutions using VeriFone terminals connecting to the ENZ network. POSLink supports three different protocols for communicating to a POS:

  • 1-way Interface; simple one way messaging that enables the transaction amount to be sent to a terminal.
  • 2-way Interface; enables the EFTPOS terminal to send prompts back to the POS advising the operator of the current cardholder operation e.g. AWAITING ACCOUNT, AWAITING PIN, PROCESSING NOW, etc. The terminal will also send a response message back to the POS advising of the transaction outcome. If the transaction is approved, the POS will automatically complete the transaction.
  • IP Interface; In addition to the historical method of connecting a POS or ECR to an EFTPOS terminal via a serial cable, POSLink software allows the terminal to be connected via an IP (Ethernet or WiFi) connection if the POS supports this method of communication.

Note; If supported by the POS, IP connectivity is available via one or two-way Interface.

Terminal Reseller information
In order to interface the Merchants POS and EFTPOS using POSlink please check the following:

  • That you’re using a VeriFone Vx570, Vx810 DUET, or Vx510 2-piece with VXS__ENZSTD0522 version software or later
  • That there is one free com port on the PC / ECR
  • That the POS or ECR software has been developed to integrate with the POSLink one-way and / or two-way interface product – see the ENZ Certified Solutions page for POS software that is certified with the POSLink interface
  • That you have a serial cable or Ethernet cable to connect the terminal to the POS system. Note: A specific cable is required when interfacing POSLink with a Quest POS via the 2-way interface.
  • That you have purchased a POSLink Interface license from Sektor. This will be charged by Sektor when the terminal is purchased.
  • That you have engaged with the POS provider to get them to configure the POS. Note: Terminals can be run as standalone until the configuration is complete.

Quest 2-way Interface

A 2-way interface to a Quest POS is available only on Verifone hardware running ENZ software. In order to have a 2-way interface from the EFTPOS terminal to a Quest Point of Sale a specific Quest cable is required.

If you are you the Terminal Provider, but not the Quest POS provider, you will need to contact Quest in order to arrange for the local Quest Reseller to attend the customer’s site to configure the POS and provide the Quest interface cable. Please ensure your customer is aware there will be a Quest charge for this which will be in the vicinity of $100 plus the cable and any applicable POS software upgrade charges. The Quest Reseller can confirm this when the configuration is booked.

To arrange a Quest Rep please contact sales@questnz.co.nz or phone 04 568-9797.
